Upcoming LeaderNet Seminar: Governance and Civil Society Organizations
(Feb. 27 - Mar. 2)

AIDSTAR-Two invites you to join LeaderNet from February 27 to March 2, 2012 for a virtual seminar entitled, “Governance and Civil Society Organizations.”   The seminar will be facilitated by Xavier Alterescu, Principal Program Associate at Management Sciences for Health and Sarah Johnson, Project Director for AIDSTAR-Two.  Both facilitators have extensive experience working on organizational capacity building worldwide.

Governance in Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) refers to more than merely defining roles and responsibilities and distributing them between a Board of Directors and an Executive Team. Governance is a process that is characterized by competently exercising power on the basis of shared values and by directing resources, performance, and stakeholder participation toward the vision and mission of the organization. Please join us to discuss how transparency, accountability, law and regulation, as well as data gathering and analysis, policy formulation, planning, effective decision-making and ethics create a sound environment for governance in civil society organizations.

In the coming weeks we will provide the reading and course outline for this LeaderNet Seminar.   During the Seminar, we will post an announcement each morning with a couple of daily questions to guide the dialogue. End-of-day posts will include a wrap up of the day’s themes and a very short introduction to what the topic for the following day will be, including any reading material.
