» About Us

Mr. Negash Teklu is the Executive Director of the Consortium for Integration of Population Health and Environment (CIPHE) since its establishment. Starting 1992 until 2006 he was the founder and Deputy and General Manager of Walta Information Centre (a prominent news agency). Before that starting 1975 as a member of Tigray People Liberation Front (TPLF), he was a liberation fighter against the Military government and from 1977-1991 a member of the foreign committee representing the TPLF/EPRDF in Sudan and Europe as member of the Zonal committee and representative. He was also a member of The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) Parliament and standing committee from 1995-1999.

 
 

He has acquired a Masters Degree in International Relations from Amsterdam University.

He participated in several significant trainings, workshops and international travels including the US State Department International Leadership Visit and International Family Planning Leadership Program training in USA. He is a person talented in communications, social mobilization, organizing events, and advocacy. He is married and has two children.

   The long term goals of CIPHE are

To support the development of Ethiopia, and contribute to the success of the PASDEP (Ethiopia’s Plan for Accelerated and Sustained Development to End Poverty) and the MDGs.

   

To generate active cooperation with national, regional and international advocacy and research centers, and provide important sources of solidarity and cooperation for national-level developmental efforts and lessons.

   

To help in narrowing the communication gap between population, health, gender and environmental organizations and activities.

   

To be a powerful learning forum, because of the interchange with organizations working on PHE issues.

   

To develop coordination and collaboration between organizations and to strengthen access to information and resources.

   

To increase visibility and success of developmental initiatives and campaigns.
